details:

Growing up, some of my favorite memories were getting together with all the women in the family right before the end of year holidays. These gatherings consisted of food, stories and creating holiday decorations. This is where I learned how to sew and embroider. The feeling of creating something with your own hands has always brought me joy and relaxation. These skills have become a favorite hobby of mine, making creations for family, friends and myself. Last year I became an aunt and I wanted to gift my niece a piece she will cherish for a lifetime.

the process

Cutting, cutting and more cutting needed to prep all the individual pieces to be assembled. In order to ensure a better lasting quality, I used a double thread sewing technique. Then one by one, each sequent and bead was sewed on to each letter. Overall it took about 2 hours from start to finish for each letter, making it a labor of love. During this process, I had my little one, Frankie, the fluffiest support bean out there to keep me focus and motivated.

the final outcome

The overall assembly was the tedious part... but I gained a new skill with creating a macramé hanger. Despite years of not sewing, it still came natural to me and I'm excited to revive this old hobby of mine. These are traditions that I hope to share with the next generation in my family and I can't wait till Lyanna is old enough to read her name!
