details:
Partnering up with the non-for-profit organization, The Bridge, we have designed a 9-story mixed-use building. It will provide 91 units of supportive housing for adults with serious mental illness and low-income seniors. The project will also include 12,144 square feet of community facility space, a 35-foot-long rear yard, and the concrete-based structure will also have a cellar
design narrative & inspiration
The interiors o the Bishop House are inspired by the greenery, natural materials, and vibrant colors reflected in the landscape terrace design. This nature-inspired environment hopes to bring a feeling of relaxation and comfort as well as encouraging the individuals who reside there to find support and come into their own.

interior design proposal
The interior design package included concepts and schemes for both public and private spaces throughout the building. The ground floor is where the community facility will be located so users have direct access without cross passing with the residents. A separate residential entrance is provided with the buildings mechanical rooms located in the remaining space. Half of the second floor will be dedicated to offices for in-house resident services and the other half will include amenities such as a laundry room, flex amenity space with kitchenette and a computer lab. Residents also have access to the 35-foot landscape terrace tucked in the rear yard for privacy. The top floors are the residential living quarters with a mix of studio, one bedroom and two bedroom options.

Due to the delicate background of the residents, we wanted to provide an escape oasis from the hectic city lifestyle. The natural materials with pops of warm colors throughout the interiors was important in creating a cohesive design with the exterior proposal. There was opportunities to bring some art and color to the elevator lobbies and residential corridors. What sometimes tends to be overlooked or a never ending sea of white walls with doors, we added a touch of personality so residents can form a sense of community with their floors and at their apartment entry. Different schemes were proposed so the organization can select what works best for their residents.
